I'm so grateful to my friends for helping me put up this site and blog and helping me through this incredibly difficult and challenging situation. I'm very embarrassed by this and if there was more time I would never ask any of my friends for money, but I was diagnosed on Jan 23 through a routine blood test and have been told that I need to have this procedure as soon as possible. Because of my family history I've been getting tested every 6 months since the age of 40 - it has gone from 0-60 incredibly quickly. So guys, words to the wise, go get checked. I'm looking at March 14th for surgery given my diagnosis. If I had time to wait, I'd find the money on my own, because I'm not done on this planet yet!
I truly value all the support of my friends and hope that you'll post with me on this blog. I'll check back regularly to let you know how I'm doing.

Please try not to feel embarrassed, I'll bet 80% or more of your friends (myself included) are facing financial difficulties even without a daunting diagnosis like this. In actuality, you've always been a hero to me as I've watched you help our friends in need (ie: Bobbi, Marshall, and many others), change your lifestyle (way before it was popular), and raise Jett all by yourself. Honestly, I can't think of anyone quite like you. I will be contacting everyone I know about this and a have already written Nancy about some ideas for raising the scratch you'll need to power through this. 2 of my chess playing friends at the Wed night chess with Dr Wagner had prostate cancer and both had operations around 15 years ago. They are both now in their high 70's and doing fine.

Ok, I am heading downtown to check-in for the Marathon!!
Come down and see it if you can. (See attached maps, links, etc. below).
I’ve even shaved my legs just for you - so I hope you can make it!
I’ll be running with the LA Legger 12min. mile group (certainly slower than what you used to run, but next year I am sure to beat this year’s time!) I’ll be wearing: Black Capri running pants, light Pink top, white sun visor and your name on my back bib/tag right after FORD.
If you read below you can determine roughly when I will be running past certain Mile Markers.
Maybe I will see you on the sidelines!!! Wish me luck!

It looks like friends are pulling hard for you. Right now, I'll pray for you. I played drums with Joe Wood, Smog and Dennis Dec. 15th 2008 at your fine home. I'm just a musician...playing and teaching and I've raised my 11 year old daughter solo for the last 9 years. The word is traveling, it won't be long. "Stay strong" I was once told by Max Roach. Those 2 words have helped me more times than I care to remember. I hope they help you today.
